Theatre at Night

Welcome to Strode Theatre

If you haven't been to us before, this is the page to tell you all about our Theatre, and show you what it looks like.

As you approach the Theatre you are greeted by our Countryside Design Award winning frontage, designed by architect Steven Blackley, which opened in 1999. Here you'll find our Box Office, the foyer where we exhibit work by mainly local artists, and the Theatre Cafe/Bar where you can relax and meet friends before and after most films and performances.

The Cafe/Bar

The extension also features a large rehearsal room and smaller meeting room upstairs, which are used by amateur companies for rehearsals, dance school classes, and Strode College performing arts courses. The modern extension is fully accessible to wheelchair users.

Our auditorium, stage and most backstage areas are housed in the original 1960s building, which has been refurbished, but not essentially altered, since its opening in 1963.

The Foyer
Since the installation of new seating in August 2007, the auditorium now has 343 seats on two levels. The stalls again are fully wheelchair accessible, and up to three spaces for wheelchairs can be booked in advance.
Long-legged patrons, who have in the past avoided the mid-row stalls, should find the new layout downstairs a lot more generous than in the past, with more leg room, wider seats and improved sightlines, particularly in the centre stalls.
