CLOSE TO SELL-OUT!
Baz Luhrmann’s visually stunning epic AUSTRALIA (12A) returns to Strode Theatre in Street on Tuesday 28th April at 7.30pm, after screenings sold out in the last season. Nicole Kidman plays an English aristocrat who arrives to take over her murdered husband’s Australian ranch around the outbreak of the Second World War. She has to rely heavily on the experience of the resident drover (Hugh Jackman) to have any chance of getting her cattle to market on the coast, but the rough-hewn workman is the polar opposite to her refined manners, and their relationship is a rocky one. The dangers of the road, however, soon bring them together in unexpected ways…

MILK (15)
DTS A/D
Tuesday 5th May 7:30pm
Best Actor Oscar winner
Sean Penn gives a stunning
performance in this moving
biopic of Harvey Milk, the first
openly gay elected official in the USA. His career, from closeted New
York office worker to the foremost advocate of gay rights in late 70s
San Francisco, before being assassinated by an unhinged colleague,
makes for a fascinating story of courage and determination that stood
out even in a time of great social change.
“…an astute chronicle of
big-city politics and the portrait of a warrior whose passion was
equalled by his generosity and good humor.” New York Times.
